The OCZ Vertex Series Mac Edition is the result of the latest breakthroughs in SSD technology. The Mac Edition delivers the incredible performance enthusiasts have come to expect from OCZ¿s premium Solid State Drive offerings with the peace of mind knowing they are tested in Apple¿s own labs. Additionally, the drives feature speeds up to blazing 240MB/s sequential read and 170MB/s sequential write and 64MB onboard cache, while delivering extended battery life, increased system responsiveness, and superior durability compared to conventional hard drives. All Vertex Series SSD drives come backed a two year warranty and OCZ¿s legendary service and support. Vertex series SSD drives are available in ample storage capacities of 30GB, 60GB, 120GB, and 250GB. MPORTANT NOTE: Solid State Drives DO NOT require defragmentation. It may decrease the lifespan of the drive. *Consumers may see a discrepancy between reported capacity and actual capacity; the storage industry standard is to display capacity in decimal. However, the operating system usually calculates capacity in binary format, causing traditional HDD and SSD to show a lower capacity in Windows. In the case of SSDs, some of the capacity is reserved for formatting and redundancy for wear leveling. These reserved areas on an SSD may occupy up to 5% of the drive¿s storage capacity. On the Vertex Series the naming convention reflects this and the 30 is equivalent to 32GB, the 60 is equivalent to the 64GB and so on.

I now have SSDs in two of my Macs, now. This OCZ drive is in an '09 Mini with 4GB of RAM and it's an incredible little performer with the SSD in it. Boot time is a few seconds, and everything - I mean everything - responds almost immediately. The SSD makes the whole experience a thing of beauty.
At the time I purchased my SSD, this mac version was only about $6 more expensive than the PC version. In reality, except for initial formatting (which is easily changed) they should be identical. I went with the mac version because it was essentially the same money and it'd be a little show of support for my preferred platform.
Best upgrade ever

In all of my years of dealing with computers, I can honestly say that this is the best upgrade I have ever purchased.
Boot times in 15 seconds
No bouncing in the dock, everything opens instantly
Shutdown is usually 3 seconds
Note: My MBP has 8GB of memory.
I have my 120GB drive about half filled and performance is still as good as the day I installed it.
If you are on the fence, get off and order, you will not regret this purchase.
Great SSD!!!

Failed after a few weeks

When this drive was functioning, it was very fast and added significant battery life to my Macbook Pro 15", however, it was a few short weeks before it failed. Fortunately, it only failed on writes - which allowed me to get the data off the drive. OCZ Technical support leaves much to be desired. You open a support ticket online or via customer service - which must only be a call center because they cannot do anything but open the ticket. The engineer responsible for the ticket never calls, only adds comments to the support ticket, and sets up a RMA. The RMA process takes close to two weeks because you have to send the failed drive back before they will send the replacement drive - which came from Taiwan - even though I specified to use US RMA. Less than a month after the replacement drive was installed, it also failed - only this time with no accessibility. Once again - the support and RMA process occurs only to be frustrated again with time delays, poor communication, and shipping delays. I will replace this SSD with an more reputable manufacturer once I receive the RMA this time.
