Compared to the prev. 120GB hard drive in my laptop, this drive is a big improvement in booting, program startups and even while working. Outlook is a lot faster, Firefox improved a lot.
I thinks SSD is the way to go fir future computers...
good product

I used the "one-click order" button on Amazon and the shipping came out $4 more than it would have been had I ordered the normal way. For $18.99 shipping, I should expect overnight delivery, but it was sent "standard" shipping.
Otherwise this SSD is a big improvement over my old HDD. Programs open and load instantly. I still use my old HDD for storage. It was a pain to update firmware, having to first learn how to do it manually, then having to choose which version to install. It seems that people have different opinions on which version of firmware works best. But if you know what you are doing, then this is certainly one of the better buys out there. Valuewise, I would place this above the OCZ Vertex drives.
Great enhancement to my laptop

I have an HP TX2 and often felt like I was waiting forever for applications to load. After popping in this drive the machine is very snappy. As soon as Windows 7 loads and I log in the machine is ready to go. Boot times are a little faster but the big change is how fast applications load and how fast it comes back from sleep. Now when I click on an application's icon, it loads instantly. There's no "thinking about it" or waiting after you click. I suggest you search for SSD tweaks to learn how to save on HD space and get the most out of a SSD drive. This drive has TRIM support, so you should certainly run with Windows 7. If you've got a laptop that you feel should have plenty of power for you applications but yet it seems to struggle, it could just be that you're waiting on your HD too often. If you can deal with the limited space, the speed will likely make you smile.
Probably best bang for buck SSD.

Great drive for the price. If you can get the Vertex for the same price go for it, but if not this is a great drive. Good controller, long warranty, and fast performance with the best GB:$ ratio of the better performing SSDs. If 60GB isn't enough space get 2 and put them in RAID 0 for even faster performance!
Good drive for the price, but no mounting hardware included

Ordered mine for $142. Compared to the Intel 40gb Value SSD, was only $20 more for 50% more disk space and faster performance. This drive is noticebly faster than the Value SSD. I installed the OCZ SSD in small form factor Mini-ITX computer to replace a 3.5 inch 7200 RPM Hitachi drive. The OCZ drive is silent and runs much much cooler. I was worried about heat dissipation in the small case and this drive did the trick. It's been running flawlessly for 5 hours now. I installed Linux Mint 9 on it, no problem. And YES, Linux kernel 2.6.32 supports Trim. I did not try updating the firmware. Didn't need to. It worked just fine out of the box. I had 51gb of free disk space left after installing Linux Mint 9, a swap partition, all the latest updates and a few extra software packages.
Some reviewers give this drive low ratings, comparing it to the Intel 80gb SSD. The OCZ drive was $60 cheaper than the Intel SSD when I ordered it. I have no experience with the Intel 80gb SSD, but I do own the 40gb version. Each drive has it's pro's and con's. The OCZ has larger capacity and it's faster. The Intel 40gb drive is cheaper and power consumption is much less. I'm using the Intel drive in my Asus Netbook to conserve battery power. I don't really care about power consumption in my desktop, because I have a 250 watt power supply instead of battery power. The OCZ drive did not come with any screws or a 3.5 inch mounting bracket, but the Intel drive did. In fact I used the mounting bracket from the Intel drive to mount the OCZ in my desktop. I would have given the OCZ drive 5 stars if it came with mounting hardware.
